Cap Vert
Cap Vert
a cape on Cape Verde Peninsula, situated at 14°45’ N lat. and 17°33’ W long., between the mouths of the Gambia and Senegal rivers in West Africa. Discovered in 1445 by the Portuguese D. Diaz, the cape received its name from the savannah vegetation, which forms a sharp contrast to the bleak sands of the Atlantic coast of the Sahara.
