Danish Sounds

the system of sounds between the Scandinavian Peninsula and Jutland, including the Lille Belt, Store Belt, Øresund, Kattegat, and Skagerrak. The narrowest distances across the sounds are (respectively) 0.5 km, 3.7 km, 10.5 km, 60 km, and 110 km. The Danish sounds are the basic sea routes between the ports of the Baltic Sea and other world ports.
