Deskey, Donald

(1894–1989) industrial designer; born in Blue Earth, Minn. After study at the Art Institute of Chicago, California School of Arts, and in Paris, he founded the design firm of Donald Deskey Associates, New York (1926–75). His work encompassed almost all areas, including advertising, exhibits, graphics, furniture, interiors, appliances, and new products. His most famous commission was the interior of Radio City Music Hall (1931). He also founded and taught at New York University's School of Industrial Design.
