Dressing packets are packaged in rubberized or glassine envelopes to protect the contents from moisture and contamination during long storage. Each packet contains a loose cotton-gauze pad, an adhesive bandage, a gauze bandage, and a safety pin. The bandages must be aseptic and antiseptic and must be able to slowly absorb drainage. The bandage wrappings should be clearly marked as to where the bandages may be touched, and the manufacturer’s name and directions for opening and use should also appear on the packet.
