A type of capillary haemangioma arising in the placenta, which is usually an incidental finding; however, if large, it may lead to platelet sequestration or intrauterine growth retardation due to arteriovenous shunting.

Metastatic foetal neuroblastoma (no malignant small round blue cell infiltrate), choriocarcinoma (no pleomorphic tumour cells), chorangiosis (less diffuse).
