Danube Oil Refinery
Danube Oil Refinery
a petroleum refining enterprise in Hungary. The refinery was built in the mid-1960’s in Százhalombatta. The location was chosen for its proximity to the Danube waterway and to the city of Budapest, the principal center of consumption. The refinery reprocesses petroleum supplied from the USSR by the Druzhba Oil Pipeline. The first petroleum distillation plant, which has a capacity of 1 million tons per year, went into operation in 1965; the second plant, which produces up to 3 million tons of refined oil per year, began operating in 1967. The petroleum products manufactured at the refinery are delivered by pipeline to Budapest and other locations.
