forward estimation

forward estimation

A formulaic estimation of a person’s likely blood alcohol concentration after consuming a known amount of alcohol, which may be of interest in a medicolegal context (e.g., drink driving-related accident/injury).
Sources of error
Exact amount of alcohol consumed, amount absorbed, individual Widmark factor.
Forward estimation formula
CT = CO - (beta x T)
CT = Time of interest
CO = Known time
Beta = Rate of elimination mg alcohol/100 ml blood/hour
T = Time since drinking began
