 [des-ok″sĭ-kor″tĭ-ko-stēr´ōn] a mineralocorticoid with no glucocorticoid activity, secreted in small amounts by the human adrenal cortex. It is used with a glucocorticoid for replacement therapy in insufficiency" >adrenocortical insufficiency and addison's disease and for treatment of salt-losing adrenogenital syndrome.
