Location:Northeastern Louisiana, 6 miles north of West Monroe.
Facilities:Visitor contact station, viewing sites, hiking trails, boat ramps, observation tower.
Activities:Boating, canoeing, fishing, hunting, educational programs.
Special Features:D'Arbonne NWR has the national record mayhaw tree, a wetland species with fruit that makes delicious jelly.
Habitats: 17,419 acres of bottomland hardwood and pine and upland hardwood forests, moist soil and permanent water.
Access: Year round, although about 75 percent of the refuge is subject to annual flooding from December through May.
Wild life: Waterfowl, wading birds, shorebirds, red-cockaded woodpecker, neotropical songbirds, alligator, and white-tailed deer.
