East Indian Seamount Range

 

a submarine mountain range in the Indian Ocean stretching 2,640 km almost exactly along the meridian of 90° E long., between 10° N lat. and 34° S lat., and rising 1,000-2,000 m over the ocean bed. The sea depth above the range varies from 2,000 to 4,000 m and over certain peaks of the southern sector decreases to 1,706 m and 870 m, Foraminiferal and radiolarian silts predominate on the slopes.
