Population, 22,000 (1974). Chortkov has enterprises servicing the railroad industry, a repair plant, a sugar refinery, a cheese factory, a vodka distillery, a meat-packing plant, a bread-baking combine, a garment factory, and a factory for the manufacture of down and feather articles. The city has a historical museum.
