Falsen, Christian Magnus

 

Born Sept. 14, 1782, in Christiania, now Oslo; died there Jan. 13, 1830. Norwegian lawyer and political figure.

Falsen became a staff attorney attached to the Supreme Court of Norway in 1807 and a judge of a rural court of first instance in 1808. In 1814 he became governor of Bergen County. Falsen was chairman of the commission to draft the Eidsvoll Constitution of 1814 and he coauthored the constitution’s first draft. In 1822 he became the chief prosecutor and in 1827 the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Norway.
