Weber-Christian disease

 [va´ber kris´chan] a disease marked by fever and the formation of crops of tender nodules in the subcutaneous fatty tissues. Called also nodular nonsuppurative panniculitis and Christian-Weber disease.

Relapsing non-suppurative panniculitis A condition characterized by focal painful aggregates of subcutaneous fat necrosis with erythematous, ulcerating and eventually atrophic skin, seen in chubby middle-aged ♀ Clinical CWD may be acute or chronic, fulminant or transient, systemic or confined to the skin, and variably associated with polyserositis and fever Etiology Unknown; possibly related to trauma, cold, drugs, chemicals; it may occur in Pts with SLE, rheumatoid arthritis, DM, sarcoidosis, after corticosteroid withdrawal, in acute and chronic pancreatitis and in pancreatic carcinoma Lab ↑ Lipase, ↑ amylase.
