benign metastasising leiomyoma

benign metastasising leiomyoma

A rare smooth muscle cell neoplasm affecting women, which is characterised by multiple histologically benign smooth muscle tumours of the lung, which remain constant in size for a long time. These tumours are thought to be clonally derived from benign-appearing uterine smooth muscle tumours. The prevailing treatment option is primary excision of the nodules—rather than “wait-and-see”—or, if unresectable, long-time hormone therapy.
