Community law

Community law

the law of the European Union. Strictly speaking it is made up of primary legislation (treaties) and secondary legislation enacted by the Union, e.g. regulations and directives. Community law also extends to all the rules of the Community legal order including, e.g. general principles of law, jurisprudence and any implementing measures realizing Community objectives. The foregoing can all be classified as the Community acquis. See ACQUIS COMMUNAUTAIRE.
