Boreal Transgression

the advance of waters of the Arctic Ocean over the northeastern European plain that occurred during the Mikulino interglacial stage. The interglacial in turn followed the Moscow glaciation and was preceded by the Valdai (Wurms; according to other systems, the Kalinin) glaciation. The simultaneous transgression in Western Europe was called the Eemian, and in the western Siberian plain and the northern Siberian depression, the Kazantsevian. Deposits of the boreal transgression are found in the USSR on the Kola Peninsula; in the lower reaches of the Onega River; in the basins of the Vaga, Northern Dvina, and Mezen’ rivers; in the northern part of the Pechora depression; and in the Pai-Khoi Range.
