Poisoning caused by toxic levels of chromium, which may be due to industrial exposure to chromium-laden fumes and dusts in electroplating; manufacture of steel, dyes and chemicals; leather tanning; and photography.
 
Clinical findings
Acute chromium poisoning causes allergic reactions, conjunctivitis, dermatitis and oedema; chronic exposure is associated with gastrointestinal symptoms, hepatitis and an increased risk of lung cancer.
