Borian, Gurgen Mikhailovich
Born June 20, 1915, in Shusha; died Apr. 14, 1971, in Yerevan. Soviet Armenian poet and dramatist. Member of the CPSU since 1940.
Borian first published in 1930, and his first collection of verse appeared in 1937. His poetry collections include Road to the Sea (1940), A Fighter’s Oath (1941), Glow (1945), Yerevan Dawns (1947), Selection (1953), and Verses (1954). The heroic drama In the Heights (1948), and Under One Roof (1957), Marvelous Treasure, and Home on the Roads are among his plays. These works, which have been staged at the Sundukian Theater (Yerevan) and at other theaters, are noted for their poeticism and subtle psychological references. He also wrote poetry for children (the anthologies Yes and No, 1955, and /, You, He, 1966).
