Dasht-I-Margo

a desert in southwestern Afghanistan, between the valleys of the Helmand and Khash rivers. The dry bed of the Dori River crosses it. The climate is subtropical; annual precipitation is 50–100 mm. Crushed stone and clayey surfaces with sparse halophytic and wormwood-halophytic vegetation predominate; in the southwest are great sand dunes between which lie desert soils and solonchaks. There are occasional caravan trails. Sheep and camels are bred and herded in the Dasht-i-Margo. and there are oases (Khash and others) along its edges.
