Anan’ev, Boris Gerasimovich

 

Born Aug. 1 (14), 1907, in Ordzhonikidze; died May 18, 1972, in Leningrad. Soviet psychologist. Member of the Academy of Psychological Sciences of the USSR (1968). Dean of the department of psychology of Leningrad University from 1967.

Anan’ev graduated from the Gorskii Pedagogical Institute in the city of Ordzhonikidze in 1928 and completed postgraduate studies at the V. M. Bekhterev Institute for the Study of the Brain in 1930. His principal works deal with the study of sensations, the transition from sensory perception to thought, inner speech, and problems of developmental psychology and differential and applied psychology.
