Boris Mikhailovskii

Mikhailovskii, Boris Vasil’evich

 

Born Nov. 21 (Dec. 3), 1899, in Moscow; died Feb. 23, 1965, in Moscow. Soviet literary and art historian. Doctor of philology (1939).

From 1943 to 1965, Mikhailovskii was a professor at Moscow State University. From 1946 to 1960 he was head of the M. Gorky study section at the M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. His main works are on 20th-century Russian literature and the writings of Gorky.
