Finkelstein, Louis

(1895–1991) rabbi, educator; born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from the City College of New York and earned a Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1918. A professor of theology at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America from 1920, he was its chancellor from 1951–72. A member of many Jewish religious and cultural organizations, he is the author of a number of scholarly and popular books, including Faith for Today (1941).
