Finney, Ross Lee

(1906– ) composer; born in Well, Minn. After studies with Nadia Boulanger in Paris and at Harvard he began a teaching career, meanwhile continuing studies with Roger Sessions and with Alban Berg in Europe; he taught at the University of Michigan from 1948. His style showed a wide variety of influences from neoclassicism to 12-tone while remaining individual.
