Boris Stark

Stark, Boris Viktorovich

Born Nov. 18 (30), 1883, in St. Petersburg; died Nov. 2, 1955, in Moscow. Soviet metallurgist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1943).

Stark remained to teach at St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute following his graduation in 1908. From 1916 to 1925 he worked at the Elektrostal’ Plant (Moscow Oblast). In 1921 he began teaching at the Moscow Academy of Mines known as the Moscow Institute of Steel since 1930. Stark’s research dealt mainly with the theory of metallurgical processes. Stark was awarded the Order of Lenin, two other orders, and various medals.
