Boris Vedenisov
Vedenisov, Boris Nikolaevich
Born July 12 (24), 1869, in Moscow; died July 11, 1952, in Moscow. Soviet scientist in the field of railroad transportation, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR from 1943.
Vedenisov graduated in 1891 from Moscow University and in 1900 from the Moscow Engineering School in the department of transportation. From 1921 until the end of his life he taught at the Moscow Institute of Railroad Transportation. Vedenisov directed the construction of several railroad lines and installations; he wrote many basic scientific works in the field of railroad construction. Vedenisov was awarded the State Prize of the USSR in 1943, two Orders of Lenin, three other orders, and medals.
