Borong
Borong
a mountain range in the Cherskii mountainous region in the Yakut ASSR. It is 240 km long, with a maximum elevation of 2,304 m. It is composed of Triassic and Lower Jurassic sandstone and argillite and is sharply cleft by the broad valleys of the tributaries of the Adycha (a right tributary of the lana). The valleys (up to 1,000 m in elevation) support the growth of sparse deciduous forests alternating with marshes and meadows. On the upper slopes there are groves of Japanese stone pines, and above 1,400 m there is mountain tundra.
