Established: Authorized on October 1, 1974.
Location:In downtown Boston. Seven of the eight privately, municipally and federally owned and managed historic sites that comprise the historical park are connected by the Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile walking tour of 16 sites and structures of historic importance in downtown Boston and Charlestown.
Facilities:Picnic area, rest rooms (é), restaurant/snacks, visitor centers (é), museum/exhibit, self-guided tour/trail. Entrance fees required at some sites.
Activities:Walking tours, historical talks.
Special Features:The events and ideas associated with the American Revolution and the founding and growth of the United States provide the common thread linking the sites that comprise this park: Bunker Hill, Dorchester Heights, Old North Church, Paul Revere House, Faneuil Hall, Old State House, Old South Meeting House, and a portion of the Charlestown Navy Yard, including the USS Cassin Young, the USS Constitution, and the USS Constitution Museum.
