ChrysopidaeChrysopidaea family of insects of the order Neuroptera. They have protuberant, shiny, golden eyes, long, thin antennae, and large, transparent wings with a dense network of veins and a span of up to 4 cm. The eggs, which are on fine stalks, are deposited on plant leaves and stems. The larvae have falciform mouth organs and feed on small insects, mainly aphids and scale insects, including some that damage citrus crops and grapes. Chrysopidae are distributed throughout the world except in New Zealand. The most common species are Chrysopa perla, which has a greenish body about 1 cm long and gives off an unpleasant smell, and C. vulgaris, Chrysopidae
