Driving Oscillator

Driving Oscillator

a self-excited generator of high-frequency oscillations in medium-power and high-power radio transmitters; it is characterized by high frequency stability. Quartz is most widely used to attain frequency stabilization in driving oscillators. To produce high-power oscillations at the output of a radio transmitter, the oscillations generated by a driving oscillator are amplified in one or more stages of an externally excited oscillator. Driving oscillators are usually equipped with semiconductor devices (formerly, with electron tubes).
