Chuika
Chuika
a man’s outer garment made of dark cloth, common in Russia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries among urban craftsmen, merchants, and peasants who had come under urban influence. The cut of the chuika was originally straight and robelike; later the chuika was fitted at the waist and had gussets, or it was truncated in back and had gathers. It was usually kneelength. The collar of a chuika was sometimes edged with velvet or fur.
