Chu-Ili Mountains
Chu-Ili Mountains
a group of mountains in the Northern Tien-Shan, in the Kazakh SSR. In the south, the Chu-Ili Mountains adjoin the Kindyktas Range, a northwestern spur of the Zailiiskii Alatau. The mountains extend for 220 km, with elevations to 1,294 m. They are composed of granites, shales, limestones, and gypsiferous argillaceous rocks. Desert-steppe vegetation grows on the slopes of the Chu-Ili.
