Location:12 miles east of Roswell on US 380, then south 3 miles on NM 409.
Facilities:37 developed campsites (32 with electric hookups), restrooms (é),showers, picnic areas (é), group shelter, playground, trails, swimming beach,courtesy dock, pedal boat rentals, visitor center/interpretive center.
Activities:Camping, boating (under 3 hp), fishing, swimming, scuba diving, hiking, interpretive programs (seasonal).
Special Features:Bordered by high red bluffs, the seven small lakes at this park wereformed when circulating water dissolved gypsum and salt deposits inunderlying rock formations, creating a network of underground cavities.The roofs of some of those caverns collapsed under their own weight,and the resulting sinkholes filled with water. Park is New Mexico'sfirst state park.
