Ergak-Targak-Taiga
Ergak-Targak-Taiga
(also Tazarama), a mountain range in the Zapodnyi Saian Mountains, at their junction with the Vostochnyi Saian, between the upper reaches of the Us and Kazyr rivers, in the southern part of Krasnoiarsk Krai and the Tuva ASSR. The range is over 200 km long and has heights reaching up to 2,500 m. It is composed chiefly of metamorphic schist and granite. A sharply broken midmountain relief predominates. On the slopes (up to about 1,800 m), a dark-coniferous taiga with cedar and fir is found. Higher up, there are subalpine meadows, alpine tundra, and rocky streams.
