(Biochemistry), journal published by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in Moscow. It was founded in 1936 by A. N. Bakh. It appears once every two months. The journal publishes experimental work on general biochemistry; enzymology (the study of enzymes); the metabolism of plants, animals, and microorganisms; the biochemistry of vitamins, hormones, and other physiologically active compounds that occur in nature; and the biochemical foundations of the technology of plant and animal foodstuffs. It has a circulation of approximately 4,000 copies (1970).
