Ciechocinek

 

a balneopeloid and climatic health resort in Poland, in Włocławek Województwo. It is located in the Vistula River valley, 25 km southeast of Toruń. Winters are mild, with an average January temperature of approximately –2.4°C, and summers are warm, with an average July temperature of 18°C. Annual precipitation is approximately 500 mm. Ciechocinek has chloride-sodium springs whose water contains iodine and bromine and is used for bathing and drinking. The mineral saline silt and alkali made from the mother liquor remaining after evaporation are used to prepare baths in Poland’s therapeutic health facilities; peat mud is also used. Persons with diseases of the musculoskeletal and peripheral nervous systems are treated, as well as persons suffering from nontubercular diseases of the upper respiratory tract and from gynecological and metabolic disorders. The resort has a bathhouse, a pelotherapy clinic, salt pans, and sanatoriums.
