Location:Central Minnesota, 30 miles north of St. Cloud and 6 miles southeast of Little Falls.
Facilities:Wildlife viewing sites, trails.
Activities:Hiking, wildlife watching, photography, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing.
Special Features:Located in a transition zone between tallgrass prairie and deciduous forest, refuge hosts one of the largest nesting populations of greater sandhill cranes in Minnesota.
Habitats: 1,825 acres of native tallgrass prairie, oak savanna, and wetlands with dense stands of wild rice.
Access: Year round during daylight hours.
Wild life: Sandhill cranes and other migrating birds, waterfowl, bald eagle, muskrat, beaver, river otter, northern cricket frog, snapping turtle, coyote, red fox, skunk, and snakes.
