Cilician Peninsula

Cilician Peninsula

a peninsula in southern Asia Minor in Turkey. It juts out into the Mediterranean Sea for almost 100 km between the Gulf of Mersin and the Gulf of Antalya. The peninsula is occupied by the Taşeli upland and the southern spurs of the Taurus Mountains (heights to 2,294 m). Karst topography prevails. In the coastal zone, maquis thickets are found, and higher up broad-leaved and coniferous forests predominate.
