Erik Hägglund

Hägglund, Erik

Born June 15, 1887, in Hässjö, Västernorrland; died Mar. 13, 1959; in Stockholm. Swedish organic chemist, production engineer, and specialist in wood chemistry and the chemistry of forest products, primarily lignin and ligninsulfonic acids.

Hägglund was a professor at the Swedish university in Turku, Finland, from 1920 to 1930 and at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm from 1930 to 1953. From 1935 to 1954, he was the head of the Central Cellulose Industry Laboratory in Stockholm. Hägglund was an honorary member of many foreign scientific societies.
