Used in the context of stocks to refer to the date trading begins on a new stock issued to the public.Issue Date1. The date on which a company or government makes a new issue of securities to the public. For example, if a company makes its IPO on January 1, this is said to be the issue date for its IPO. It is also called the offering date.
2. The date on which interest begins to accrue on a bond or other fixed-income security. If one buys a fixed-income security between issue dates, one must compensate the seller for all interest that has accrued in addition to the purchase price.
