Crawford, Cheryl Crawford, Cheryl(1902–86) actress, director, producer; born in Akron, Ohio. One of the founders of the Group Theatre in 1931, she began her career acting with the Theatre Guild. She also helped found the American Repertory Theatre in 1946, the Actors Studio in 1947, and became a director of the American National Theatre and Academy (ANTA) series. She produced One Touch of Venus (1943), Brigadoon (1947), and Sweet Bird of Youth (1959). |
