Crawford-Seeger, Ruth Crawford-Seeger, Ruth(1901–53) composer; born in East Liverpool, Ohio. Among her teachers was Charles Seeger, whom she later married. Her first works, such as the 1931 String Quartet, show great innovative imagination and have been successfully revived. She gave up composing for nearly ten years to raise her family and contribute to her husband's work in folksong. |
