Asymmetric Molecule

a molecule that has no planes or center of symmetry. The asymmetry of molecules may depend on the presence of the asymmetric atom of carbon; in its absence, by the asymmetry of the entire molecule—for example, in the spirans and in some derivatives of diphenyl. Asymmetric molecules exist in the form of optical antipodes.
