Erm, Leezi
(also Leesi Erm). Born Jan. 16, 1910, in the village of Saunja, Harju Raion, Estonian SSR. Soviet artist. Master of Applied Arts; People’s Artist of the Estonian SSR (1975).
Erm studied in Tallinn at the industrial arts school from 1924 to 1930 and at the pedagogical school from 1930 to 1932. From 1947 to 1969 she taught in Tallinn at the Art Institute of the Estonian SSR. Erm is a designer of decorative fabrics and a master of artistic weaving. She designs fabrics with Estonian ornamentation based on various decorative themes. Erm is noted for achieving a variety of effects through her use of color and texture.
