CASP2
A gene on chromosome 7q34-q35 that encodes a member of the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family of proteins, which mediate apoptosis by proteolysis of specific protein substrates. CASP2 is involved in stress-induced cell death, cell cycle maintenance and tumour suppression.Molecular pathology
CASP2 is upregulated in neurodegenerative disorders—e.g., Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease and temporal lobe epilepsy.
