[′dü ‚pȯint ri′kȯrd·ər] (engineering) An instrument which gives a continuous recording of the dew point; it alternately cools and heats the target and uses a photocell to observe and record the temperature at which the condensate appears and disappears. Also known as mechanized dew-point meter. (petroleum engineering) An instrument used for continuous measurement and recording of the dew point of a gas.
