Size: Largest park in Philadelphia's 9,200-acre park system.
Location:Located from the mouth of the Wissahickon Creek, south toCenter City. The dividing line between East and West Fairmount Parks isthe Schuylkill River.
Facilities:Picnic areas, paved and unpaved trails, tennis and basketball courts, playing fields.
Activities:Recreational options include cycling, walking, rollerblading, hiking and horseback riding, tennis, basketball, soccer, andsoftball.
Special Features:East Fairmount Park houses the Academy of NaturalSciences, the Fairmount Water Works, Boathouse Row, and thePhiladelphia Museum of Art, and an assortment of historic homes andbuildings. Attractions in the West unit include the Mann Center for thePerforming Arts, the Horticulture Center, the Japanese House andGarden, the Philadelphia Zoo, and several historic mansions.
