Davida

Davida

((511) Davida) A large ellipsoidal C-type asteroid, discovered 1903 by Raymond Smith Dugan. It has a well-defined spin axis that is pointing in a fixed direction and is not precessing. The rotation period is about 5.13 hours. Davida orbits the Sun at a mean distance of 3.2 AU once every 5.64 years. Ground-based high-resolution pictures taken from the W.M. Keck Observatory reveal that the surface is very smooth and uniform. The mean diameter is about 326 km.
