David, Constantin

 

Born Apr. 25. 1908, in Bucharest; died January 1941, near Bucharest. Figure in the Rumanian workers’ movement.

At the age of 14, David began to work in the railway sheds of Grivita in the Bucharest region. He participated in strikes, including the battles of workers in Grivita in February 1933. In 1928 he became a member of the Communist Youth League. In 1934 he joined the Rumanian Communist Party and became secretary of the Bucharest Party organization. In 1939 he began to work as an instructor of the Central Committee of the Rumanian Communist Party in Galati and then in the Prahova valley. The bourgeois authorities arrested him for his revolutionary activity 24 times between 1931 and 1940. Members of the fascist Iron Guard group brutally murdered him in the Pantelimon forest near Bucharest.
