Moreno, Francisco

 

Born 1852, in Buenos Aires; died 1919. Argentine geographer.

Moreno made a study of Patagonia from 1874 to the early 20th century and the Argentine and the Chilean Andes from 1875. In 1877, Moreno and C. Moyano discovered Lago San Martin and Lago Argentine. Between 1882 and 1895 he investigated the eastern slopes of the Andes from 23° S lat. to the Strait of Magellan. Moreno was awarded the medal of the Royal Geographical Society.
