释义 | David, John BaptistDavid, John Baptist (Mary)(1761–1841) Catholic bishop; born in France. A Sulpician priest, he emigrated to the U.S.A. in 1792 and, after pastoral work and teaching, became bishop coadjutor of Bardstown, Ky. (1819). Known for his austere piety in the continental tradition, he served briefly as bishop of the diocese (1832–33), then resigned to teach and write. |
